Buckland Athletic’s excellent start to the Premier season continued at Elburton Villa where they came away 5-2 winners with Gavin Hammon bagging a superb hat-trick in the process. Bucks manager Phil Bayliss was beaming afterwards, and said: "I'm delighted to come here and win although a 5-2 scoreline was possibly a bit fortuitous. "We knew Elburton were a strong and physical team but we weathered their storm early in the second-half and we have great attacking options that meant we always look dangerous going forward."

The Bucks raced into a 10th minute lead when Hammon turned in Matt Beer's free-kick at the far-post, and the same player doubled the lead shortly afterwards after Roger Bonaparte had flicked the ball into his path. Eight minutes before the break Villa pulled a goal back when Sam Hughes was pulled back in the box for a penalty that he converted. But Buckland restored their two-goal advantage on the stroke of half-time when a superb break resulted in Beer's cross being swept home by Hammon.
The home side came out strongly after the break and once again pulled a goal back when Mike Lucas bundled the ball home from close-range. Buckland absorbed the pressure and sealed the win with two late goals with Luke Crowson superbly chipping home their fourth, six minutes from time, and Hammon completing his treble with a wonderful low first time drive from 25-yards.
